September 9, 2020 Update
As you may know, Calvary has been working hard on a reopening plan to ensure the safety of the entire Calvary Community. The plan has been approved by the Church Council and is now underway! It includes four phases. Please note that all in-person gatherings will require participants to wear a mask and proper social distancing of at least 6 feet.
Phase 1 Is currently being implemented
Church office reopening - restricted to limited staff, the Treasurer, and Tellers.
Outdoor worship - Outdoor worship will resume in Spring 2021. It will be held in the lower parking lot. Participants must remain in their cars or in their own chairs. (See page 6 for more details)
House Churches - have begun and allow for small group worship experiences.
Phase 2 Is currently being implemented
The building is open to small groups and renters. Renters are required to submit a plan for meeting CDC/NYS guidelines. Note that when meeting in small groups, each group is responsible for cleaning/disinfecting the spaces they reserve. Someone from each group must be identified to the Church Office as the responsible party to sign off that that cleaning was completed in each reserved room. Groups must log attendance for contact tracing, and screening forms for all participants, which will include temperature checks. Gatherings will be limited to 50% of maximum occupancy as posted in each room. Restrooms will be limited to those across from the Nursery (upstairs) and those off the Fellowship Hall (downstairs).
Calvary Preschool has begun - Preschool Reopening Plan approved by Church Council
Hudson Valley Consortium has begun - Consortium Reopening Plan approved by Church Council
Phase 3 Is currently being implemented. Indoor worship has resumed, though we will continue to live stream. Those who plan to attend worship will be asked to make reservations in advance by emailing Reservations.Calvaryumc@gmail.com so a seating plan can be made to ensure proper social distancing.
Attendance will be taken for contact tracing
Temperature checks (using a no-touch thermometer) will be taken
Communion will be prepackaged
Offering will be collected in offering boxes (no collection plates will be passed)
No bulletins, bibles or hymnals
The congregation will not sing, though we will still offer music
No passing of the peace
No coffee hour
Only the main entrance will be used
Phase 4 will begin at a date to be determined, when ministry area leaders are comfortable. This will include the reopening of Sunday School, Nursery, Missions, and larger gatherings. Each of these reopenings will require a plan approved by the Church Council.

We look forward to gradually being able to meet and worship together in person, and encourage everyone to make the choices they are most comfortable with. Please continue to pray for the health and safety of all those attending Calvary, both in-person and virtually.
